Go Canoeing Week 2018

Local Cubs getting a chance to paddle

As part of National Go Canoeing Week 2018, we welcomed members of the Gloucester 46th Cubs Group the boathouse.  The cubs borrowed our equipment; boats, paddles and PFDs and “had a go”.

Some 18 Cubs and 10 leaders were out on the water supported by leaders on the bank.  We also had club members standing by to provide further assistance and coaching. This event followed on from their Explorers group who came down to “get stuck in” and experience canoeing at the Gloucester Canoe Club.

A great time was had by the Cubs and several got up the courage to roll out and do a self-rescue. This is part of the Club getting involved with the local community and youth groups.

The cubs also posted a video on You tube: Cubs @ Gloucester Canoe Club, why not take a look.
